HULU PICKS UP CONTROVERSIAL CANADIAN DOCUMENTARY

“Cracked Not Broken” set for HULU feature on May 14, 2009

TORONTO (May 13, 2009): Controversial Canadian documentary film, Cracked Not Broken, which was featured in HBO’s award winning Addiction Project, has been acquired for broadcast by US premium content website Hulu (www.Hulu.com) and will be one of the featured films on the site tomorrow, May 14, 2009.

Cracked Not Broken, (www.crackednotbroken.com) by filmmaker Paul Perrier and Executive Producer Tom Powers, is a co-production of Open Door and Blatant Exposure Inc. This real-time documentary opens a disturbing window into the life of Lisa, a 37-year-old crack addict and estranged mother who prostitutes herself to fuel her costly drug habit. Although she grew up in an upper class family in Rosedale, a privileged Toronto neighbourhood, went to the right private schools and had the right friends, something went terribly wrong. Shot almost entirely in her Toronto hotel room, the film captures a highly intelligent, vivacious, articulate and hyperactive woman juggling a cell phone and drug paraphernalia with equal dexterity while talking with incredible frankness to Perrier about the struggles of being ‘in the game’ and her quest for any kind of redemption.  The film and its subject gained international prominence after being featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has been sold and screened around the world. It is currently being broadcast in Canada on The Documentary Channel and Super Channel, in Australia on Foxtel and on Snag Films in the US (www.snagfilms.com).
